Takeaways

Assumptions always need to be justified.

We assume that everyone can navigate to the “Saved” icon in less than 1s’.

Consistency is important

Color, font, visual style, structure, etc.

Hierarchy is important

  1. Visual: Key information should be conspicuous.

  2. Architectural: Multiple portals to a single page is acceptable but should be  consistent.

Reflection

Users’ expectations for a job searching platform and what we can work on to improve in the next stage

  • incentivize users to use this application

  • build a higher fidelity prototype

  • Improve aesthetic designs

The usability study process helps us to identify:

  • whether our job explorer is responsive and in line with user needs

  • whether it is an effective solution to our designed question —

“supporting college students at UCI to access relevant information with the e-cruitment platform for job opportunities that they desire.”
